نویسنده
چکیده
An elementary derivation is given of Cabibbo’s formula for subthreshold ππ charge-exchange (cx) interference in the three-meson final states produced in certain meson decays. The relative phase between the two interfering decay amplitudes from the ππ and ππ channels is found to depend almost entirely on the ClebschGordan coefficients appearing in the dominant isospin component of the final state. The importance of using consistent phases in the definitions of the two decay amplitudes and of the cx scattering length is illustrated for the decays of η, η, and K. Measurements of both decay spectra permit an experimental determination of the cx S-wave ππ scattering length acx when the relative phase between the two interfering amplitudes is known, or of the relative phase when acx is known.

We discuss recent work on Coulomb dissociation and an effective-range theory of low-lying electromagnetic strength of halo nuclei. We propose to study Coulomb dissociation of a halo nucleus bound by a zero-range potential as a homework problem. We study the transition from stripping to bound and unbound states and point out in this context that the Trojan-Horse method is a suitable tool to inve...

As shown in some talks [1] of this conference, statistical descriptions work very successfully for multihadron final states in nucleon-nucleon, nucleon-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus collisions. In this approach the chemical equilibrium particle ratios are functions of temperature T and baryon chemical potential μB only . Recently GSI measured Au-Au and Ni-Ni collisions at 0.8 ∼ 2.0 GeV. Some mea...

Two examples, not connected at present, from author’s papers (Nuovo Cim., 1992, v.105A, p.77 [hep-th/0207210] and GRG, 1999, v.31, p.1431 [gr-qc/0207017]) are considered here in which a physical model has discrete symmetries and additional non-observable coordinates or parameters. Then it is possible to introduce some apparent continuous symmetries of the model for an observer which cannot know...
